MONROE COUNTY FIRE MARSHALS & INSPECTORS ASSOCIATION
The Monroe County Fire Marshals and Inspectors were formed in 1978 to address local fire and life safety issues. The first meeting of the association was held at the Gates Town Hall and included representatives from the Town of Brighton, Town of Gates, Town of Henrietta, Town of Irondequoit and the Town of Webster. Richard Ambeau, Gates Fire Marshal was elected President, Pat Inzer, Brighton Fire Marshal was elected Vice President, and Gerald Yahn, Irondequoit Fire Marshal was elected Secretary-Treasurer. The association logo used today was designed by David Cole who was the Fire Marshal for Bausch and Lomb.
The Association was instrumental in bringing codes training to Monroe County in the early 80's. Today, Monroe County ranks in the top 3 of counties with certified code enforcement officials. The Monroe County Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association was also instrumental in developing the New York State Fire Prevention and Building Code.
Since 1978, the association's membership has grown to over 165 active members from across Western New York. Many of our members have or are now serving on the Executive Board of the New York State Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association. In addition, several association members serve on New York State Technical Sub-Committees that review the ICC family of codes.
The Monroe County Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association is open to all code enforcement personnel as well as fire and life safety personnel both in the public and private sector.
